I am a self diagnosed music snob and audiophile. I cannot listen to music on cruddy speakers, nor can I listen to bad music. Although, I do have a weakness for pop music, mostly European pop. I never am without a song in my head; from the time I wake until the moment my consciousness slips to sub-conscious, I have at least one song in my head at any given time, against which my life uses as a backdrop. Growing up, I started listening to oldies, i.e. 50’s pop, 60’s pop, soul, rock, and rhythm and blues, 70’s singer-songwriters, soft rock, funk, and jazz/rock (the 70’s mainly influenced by my parents). I am an 80’s baby through and through, so I remember the music from my childhood.
I enjoy:
-the smell of a baseball glove
-freshly mown grass
-working on cars
-building things with my hands
-traveling, old houses
-space exploration
-water sports
-good clothes (tailored blazer, dress shirt, jeans, and some oxfords)
-writing
-making music
-sport (watching college football and basketball, soccer/football, and sometimes baseball; playing soccer)
-gadgets
-old movies (you know, when a good script was common)
-good books (Sherlock Holmes, The Great Gatsby, On The Road, etc)
-documentaries
-British television
-French culture
-History (particularly European and United States)
-Art 1800-present
I make obscure cultural references, often at the expense of sounding like a Gilmore Girls episode, and movie quotes work their way into my conversations, naturally. I also recently realized that I, too often, use larger-than-necessary words.
This blog is my creative thoughts, findings, travels, and ideas to encourage, stimulate, and entertain you.
